Simpson County to Join the WKU Young Male Leadership Academy
- Wednesday, January 19th, 2022

The WKU Young Male Leadership Academy (YMLA) is a college preparation and recruitment initiative, which develops leadership skills in young males of diverse backgrounds by exploring the teaching profession. Since 2007, this program has been made possible thanks to a partnership with Warren County Public Schools, Bowling Green Independent School District, and Western Kentucky University. This year, YMLA is expanding to Simpson County. On January 22, six students from Franklin Simpson High School’s 9th and 10th grade will participate in a Saturday Session for their first time as a YMLA member. This meeting will be at 11:00 AM in Gary Ransdell Hall.
This year, the WKU Young Male Leadership Academy will have a total of 24 students from the three school districts. They will practice for the upcoming State Educators Rising at Bellarmine University on March 3rd, where they will compete in categories such as Ethical Dilemma, Public Speaking, Creative Lecture, Exploring Education Administration Careers, and many others.
