WKU alumna appointed as Deputy State Auditor

Kentucky Auditor Allison Ball announced the appointment of Shari Scott, as the new Deputy State Auditor. In this new role, Scott will lead and oversee all technical audit operations within the agency.
“Shari has served at the Auditor’s Office for nearly three decades with an unwavering commitment to protecting Kentucky’s taxpayer dollars,” Auditor Ball said. “Her deep institutional knowledge and proven leadership will be invaluable as we continue to promote transparency and accountability across the Commonwealth.”
Scott brings more than 27 years of experience, beginning her career at the Auditor’s Office in 1997. Throughout her tenure, she has held several key positions, including Financial Auditor and, most recently, Western Branch Audit Manager. She earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Western Kentucky University and has been a licensed Kentucky CPA since 2000. Scott is also an active member of the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers, and Treasurers (NASACT), and she regularly conducts external peer reviews for audit agencies across the country.
“I am honored to step into this new role and deeply grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the people of Kentucky under Auditor Ball’s leadership,” said Shari Scott. Scott was officially sworn in on Friday, June 13, 2025.
