WKU honors veterans at wreath-laying ceremony
- Tuesday, November 11th, 2025

Members of the campus community gathered Tuesday morning for a Veterans Day wreath-laying ceremony at the Guthrie Bell Tower as Western Kentucky University honored the heroes who answered the call to defend freedom.
“We honor those who gave everything – their comfort, their safety and, for far too many, their lives – so that we might live freely, live fully and live in peace,” said President Timothy C. Caboni. “We pay tribute to those who stepped forward not for recognition, but out of deep love for their country, for their fellow Americans and for the ideals we hold dear – freedom, democracy and justice.”
“To all members – past and present – of our Armed Forces, on behalf of all of us here today, and on behalf of our entire institution, thank you for not only accepting but embracing your personal calling to defend and protect our nation,” he said.
President Caboni recognized WKU ROTC cadets for their service and thanked the families and friends of veterans and current military members for the support they have provided and sacrifices they have made.
