Modernizing TopNet
We are moving WKU’s Self-Service Banner (SSB), commonly known as TopNet from the older version 8 to the new version 9. This is more than just a technology update. It’s a shift that positions WKU for the future, improves the experience for students, faculty, and staff, and helps us make full use of tools we’ve already invested in.
Fresh, Modern Interface
Banner SSB v9 is built with today’s users in mind — mobile-friendly, responsive, and easier to navigate on any device.
Future-Ready & Supportable
SSB v9 aligns with Ellucian’s supported product baseline. This means faster updates, better security, and access to ongoing improvements.
Improved Experience for Everyone
Students, faculty, and staff benefit from simplified workflows, improved accessibility, and new features that streamline daily tasks.
Why Now?
Over time, we’ve customized many pieces to meet unique needs — but those customizations now prevent us from staying current. To meet Ellucian’s support deadlines — and to stay aligned with best practices — we’re returning to a clean, supportable baseline.

What is Changing?
You’ll start to see new layouts, updated navigation, and some refreshed processes all throughout TopNet. We’re making sure every module is tested, validated, and introduced with care — and we’ll provide guidance along the way.
Because we are moving back to baseline, you may see some things move outside TopNet. This is a great time to review processes for efficiency, need, and impact.
