The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation was created by Congress in 1975 as the nation’s living memorial to President Harry S. Truman and selects and supports the next generation of public service leaders.

Truman Scholars receive $30,000 for graduate school and professional development opportunities to prepare for a career in public service leadership.  Students must be college juniors at the time of selection.

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program provides immersive summer programs for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to learn languages of strategic importance to the United States’ national security and economic prosperity. Through intensive language instruction and structured cultural activities, participants receive the equivalent of one year of language study in just eight weeks.

Available languages are: Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, and Swahili.

DAAD-Research Internships in Science and Engineering offers undergraduate students from North American, British and Irish universities the opportunity to complete a summer research internship at top German universities and research institutions. RISE Germany is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.

• Students are matched with a host university or institute according to their area of interest (biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences, engineering, or a closely related field)
• DAAD provides students a monthly stipend for three months to help cover living expenses
• Host universities, universities of applied sciences (UAS) and institutes provide housing assistance and match students with Ph.D. student mentors or researchers (only UAS)
