Program Development
The Curriculum and Programming area guides academic departments and colleges through the development of new and revised programming, and is responsible for ensuring the programs we offer comply with the Kentucky Council on Post-Secondary Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges.
In most cases, new programs (whether certificate, associate, baccalaureate, or graduate) require approval by CPE and SACSCOC.
To start developing new, innovative programs, use the links to the left to navigate the process.
Dr. Rheanna Plemons is available to help with CIP codes, the CPE approval process, and the WKU curriculum process. She is also the University's SACSCOC Liaison and can assist with the SACSCOC approval process.
Please review the timeline of the approval steps for program changes that may help you in getting your program change through all of the curriculum steps in time for Fall 2026.
The deadline for Fall 2026 program changes to be completely through the process is July 1.
The deadline for most course changes for Fall is January 1st since this is the date the schedule rolls into Fall 2026 and is available for viewing. Start early! Contact the Registrar's Office and/or Rheanna for more information.
