Job Title: Student Engagement & Development Graduate Assistant

Job Description:

This position will start on August 3rd, 2026 and run through the end of the Academic Year in May 2027. The successful candidate will work 20 hours per week, with the possibility of a summer contract. The Student Engagement & Development Graduate Assistant will be responsible for assisting with the development and execution of several student events and programs. This position requires managing time, multi-task, and functioning successfully with little supervision. This position comprises mainly weekday hours in the SSS-D office planning events, with occasional weeknights for hosting events, and sporadic weekend hours. 

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist the Project Director in developing and executing events for student participants
  • Assist with the conceptualization, development, and execution of SSS-D trips
  • Collaborate with the SSS-D Student Media Manager to promote events and trips
  • Deliver information about SSS-D at presentations, tabling events, and to visitors in the office
  • Assist the Academic Coordinator in organizing recognition activities
  • Serve as liaison between SSS-D and student organizations by attending meetings and sharing information about services offered by SSS-D
  • Other duties as assigned

Stipend: The Student Engagement & Development Graduate Assistant will be eligible to receive up to $15,750* yearly stipend, paid in monthly installments (June-Aug., Sept.-Dec., and Feb.-May). Successful candidates for this GA position will get $1,500 a month for Fall (Sept.- Dec) and Spring (Feb.-May) and will have a summer option to work for an additional $1,250 a month (June-Aug.) IF they are enrolled in classes during the summer period. 

Tuition: Due to federal regulation, we cannot pay for any classes.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be accepted to/enrolled in a Master’s Degree program at WKU 
  • Experience planning and executing events 
  • Willingness and availability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed 
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Ability to initiate, implement, and coordinate multiple large projects 
  • Strong desire to promote educational achievement and opportunity 
  • Willingness to become familiar with TRIO regulations that govern program policies and procedures

Job Title: Graduate Assistant

Description/Responsibilities: Assist with grading undergraduate courses, research, assisting program coordinators as needed.  May serve as a receptionist for the main office including greeting and assisting visitors, answering and directing telephone calls, receiving and distributing mail, assisting with event planning, and other duties as assigned.

Stipend: $4750 per semester

Tuition: None

Qualifications: Highly motivated, able to work independently, general knowledge of WKU systems, interested in research, MPH or MHA students are strongly preferred.

Stipend:  Pay for the position is $15 an hour 10-20 hours a week.

Qualifications: Must be research-centered, highly motivated, and ability to work autonomously.
